inspiration page 4 on right by zwyck   http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/gallery/member/310996-zwyck/1599198-everyday/
What I like most about it:
  • Love the Layout
  • Loved the template masking the photo
  • Love the flourishes to bring softness to the layout.
  • Love the typography

Notice the Similarities /  Notice the Differences

  • Wanted to keep the layout of the page but rotated it.
  • Loved the neutral colors but wanted to use warmer tones.
  • Used a burlap to add texture to background
  • While I loved the typography for this photo I felt it didn't do my page justice and used artistic license to personalize the text.

Circle Vase Inspiration page 3

unknown source for inspiration page at RIGHT

What I like most about it:
  • Love the Layout
  • Love the multi dot circle element
  • LOVE Love the large area for journaling.

Notice the Similarities /  Notice the Differences

  • Wanted to keep the layout of the page .
  • Because there were no colors, I could choose to compliment the colors in the pictures with paper I found appealing.
  • The additional paper design under the right side photos, I kept but chose to display them further to the side since I used larger photos
  • I chose to make the Multi Dot Circle larger since it was such a fun element and used it to highlight the title as well
  • I chose a more whimsical font to mimic the feeling of the pictures.

Snow White Inspiration page 2

kellybelle designs was the source of my inspiration page on right

What I like most about it:
  • Love the Layout
  • Love the Title
  • LOVE incorporating a mirror into design

Notice the Similarities /  Notice the Differences

  • Wanted to keep the layout of the page and since mine was a 2 page layout, i could easily carry on the design to the 2nd page.
  • The colors needed to change due to the pictures I wanted to emphasis.
  • The title appears in the same location approximate to the photos.
  • The large circle with the "pearl like" border had to stay. Even using it to border my title because I like the element so much.
  • The mirror needed to be larger because I wasn't adding a lot of embellishments under the photos other than the flowers.
  • Moved my journaling to the left so my flower border would not overpower it.
  • Found a old fashioned wallpaper like print to mimic the inspiration page background.

Disney Surprise Inspiration page 1

Inspiration page one : Please forgive me but I didn't copy where I got this page from but if it is yours let me know I will credit you.

By looking at this you may not see exactly where I got my inspiration from.

Through my posts I hope to show you how I take the picture on the RIGHT and make it my own on the LEFT.

Some pages this might be an easier transition to see because I copies elements directly from the INSPIRATION PAGE.

Other times you may need to work to see the connection.

At the end of it though, you will see a page that will become part of the treasures I hand down to my children.

PHOTO BOOTH
 Inspiration page1
What I like most about it:
  1. ·        Love the PHOTO BOOK LOOK for pictures.... everybody is doing photo booths. This actually was what I was searching for since I had a SERIES of photos I wanted to display while still telling a story.
  2. ·        Love the combination of designer papers
  3. ·        LOVE the combination of teal and red Yellow
  4. ·        Love the element of adding the buttons.

Notice the Similarities /  Notice the Differences
The PHOTO BOOTH photos.
  • ·        The PHOTO BOOTH photos.  Mine were cropped in Photoshop and put on a background.
  • ·        The title appears in the same location approximate to the photos.
  • ·        The Journal Circle, became another spot for me to add a photo
  • ·        The buttons ( so cute) kept their formation and approximate location
  • ·        The scalloped edges worked so well with a Disney page.
  • ·        The box under the Inspiration Photo Booth Pictures became my larger Journal box.
  • ·        The Bird...well he became a Mouse head.
  • ·        Uses that same format for displaying the year with an elongated box behind it as well as using the Boxed Letter techniques as part of the title.
  • ·        I preferred to fill the whole page instead of just a portion. I believed it worked better with my design.
  • ·        The element next to the title was circles, I tried putting the & in circles, but due to so many dots on the page it was much, which is why  I switched it to a similar style as the title lettering, using a small stripe to add yet another element to the design.
  • ·        My colors were bolder.... Lets face it Disney just calls for BOLD colors.

Farewell to Mimi Pink

My house was built in the time of Baby boomers and bobby socks and I have the bathroom to prove it.
Dont get me wrong I love pink.....it is my favorite color.  I just dont like to see it tiled to my bathroom. Now much to my surprise I came across a site devoted to this very thing I have set out to destroy.  Its called SAVE THE PINK BATHROOMS .

The pink bathroom needs a special kind of person who can seamlessly make the old seem new again..... I am not that person. So Kudos to you who have the pink, blue, yellow or green, maroon and even black bathrooms of a time gone by and have eased them in to the new century with a purpose.

Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus

Taken from Christmas Past~
For the last 5 years, Cameron and I have been making the trek into the city to see the windows on State street and  Santa at Marshall Fields/Macy's.  If we are lucky we get seating in the Walnut Room and get greeted by the Christmas fairies.   I have just been informed by said daughter that she thinks she is too big to see Santa.....Moment please , heart stopped.  First I lose the Easter bunny, now Santa.... how much can one mom take in a year!

She did tell me that going downtown with me is still fun , so I have that going for me.  So I sit here this morning with my big girl panties, a fake smile and the realization that I too have to grow up or get left behind.   And I thought I was grown up already~
